So, on to 'thinking...' I really enjoyed the movie. It was beautifully shot (I think Marci used a Red HD camera) and the locations were lovely. The movie was funny and very sweet. It's kind of difficult to explain but basically, it takes place during a yoga meditation and Marci is thinking while she's meditating so it's a series of vignettes of her thinking. There is NO dialogue. Randy and Marci are really sweet and she spends most of the time thinking about him. I don't want to spoil it for anybody so if anybody wants more specifics about what happens just PM me.

My friends and I sat toward the front. We were some of the first people in the theatre. Randy and Marci and the other tAB folks showed up later and sat in the back row.

Oh, and before I get to anything else. No, I did not mention Gale to Randy. First, if somehow he hadn't heard (and I'm sure he did) I didn't want to be the one to tell him (SO not appropriate), second this was a night of celebration for tAB and everybody was in high spirits and I didn't want to do anything to affect that, and third, though Randy is more familiar with me I just didn't think it was really my place to ask him about Gale like that. So I didn't.

Randy looks gorgeous. He obviously did what I thought he'd do after 'Godot' and got a buzz cut. It's a nice length now. No beard in sight. He looked great. I have a picture but I can't post it until I get home since I forgot (again) to bring my cable with me...

So Karyn and I worked our way over to talk to him. I said "Hi!" and Randy said, "Oh, hi! How are are you?" Then I congratulated him. I'd gotten him a very early birthday card and I'd gotten Marci a Congratulations card. So, I gave the card to Randy and told him it was a very early birthday card and he said, "Oh, thank you!" He was SO nice and relaxed last night. Very different from how he is at the parties. So, then I said, "I have a congratulations card for Marci" (she had her back turned and was talking to some other people) and Randy said, "Oh" and then Marci turned around and I got her attention. She said "Hi" to me and I introduced myself because I'd never met her before and congratulated her. She was SO nice. I can see why she and Randy are best friends. Anyway, I introduced myself and she said, "I know. We've met before before, haven't we?" and I said, "Um, no..." and then Randy says all surprised (and very adorable), "You haven't met her before? I was sure you had." And I said "No" and then explained that I'd been at BTF so much during the summer and maybe she saw me there but then the conversation turned to other things and she went back to talking to somebody else.

Then, I asked Randy if he had any other plays coming up or projects. He told me that he's doing another film in January. Now, I'm like the WORST reporter ever because I didn't follow up with any of the obvious questions. I assume it's another tAB film. I think it's another short film but I'm not positive. I don't know if he's strictly acting in it or writing it or what. Sorry. So getting back to our wandering conversation. I said to Randy, "You spoiled us with all the plays this year". And he smiled and indicated that he wouldn't be doing plays for a while. Now I don't remember his exact words but the gist of it was that loved the plays but I think he wants to focus on his tAB stuff for a bit. And don't be surprised if he doesn't do BTF next year. I got the distinct impression that he's not planning on being there next year. He didn't flat out say that but that seemed to be what he was indicating. Of course, Kate may woo him back with some role he can't refuse, lol. He also said something along the lines of he loved doing that plays but that he was tired by the end of 'Godot'. And I said, "I know you were looking pretty tired by the end of 'Godot'." He said, "Yeah, but I loved it."

[ETA - 11/27/08] A little funny bit I'd left out when I originally told this. When Randy was still sitting in his seat and Karyn and I were talking with him. The seats were basically stadium style so Randy, being in the last row was up pretty high (at least for me, lol). We were standing at ground level so I was basically at eye level with his knee. In the course of the conversation (it might have been when he was talking about being so tired after 'Godot' but I don't remember), I was talking and gesturing and Randy had his hand resting on his knee. Now normally I'm not that touchy feely of a person but when I get around other people that are (and Karyn is) then I also get touchy feely. So, the next thing I know, I'd put my hand over Randy's on his knee! I realized as soon as I'd done it what I did but then I was like, um...and Randy gave me this funny look, like "Why did you do that?". So, then I didn't want to make it worse by just jerking my hand back so I finished whatever I was saying and then casually (well, as casually as possible after being a total dork, lol) removed my hand.

So, at that point Karyn and I were going to leave but Karyn had wanted to get her picture taken with him so I asked her if she still wanted her picture with him and she said yeah. We went back to Randy who was finally getting up and heading down out of the seating area and asked him if he minded if we got a couple of pictures. He said it was fine and so we posed with him while my other friend took pictures. The first picture she took of us would have been great but she cut off the top of Randy's head so she had to take it again, lol. I'll post the picture when I get home because I don't have my cable with me right now. Karyn wore an Amsterdam shirt in honor of Gale and Randy commented (btw, when were talking to him before he was sitting in the back row but we were at ground level so we were way shorter than him and he couldn't get a really good look at our shirts so I think that's why he commented when he did about Karyn's shirt), "Oh, have you been to Amsterdam?" Karyn said no and Randy was so cute. He said "Oh. I'm going to be going and I've been trying to get some information" or something to that effect. LOL So then I said, "You're going when you go over to Paris?" And he said yes. Then I said, "I was really surprised to hear you were doing that." He said, "I love Paris. Any excuse for a free trip." LOL Totally what I was expecting his reasoning to be on the matter. Sorry, I didn't ask any further details about his trip like how long he was going to be and if he was going anywhere other than Amsterdam.

So, that was basically it. You can read inner_justin's account of our trip to the bar next to the theatre where she almost gave Randy a heart attack. LMAO!!! I have to say from my perspective I was doing everything I could not to crack up. Watching them go back and forth, "I'm an idiot", no, "I'm an idiot." Priceless.

One little tidbit in the bar. As I was leaving and Karyn was busy apologizing to Randy again, I said my goodbyes to Marci and said, "I live in Boston and I hope to see 'thinking...' screening up there sometime soon. She made this face and said, "They don't like us up in Boston. Maybe you can talk to somebody." I laughed and said I'd only recently moved so I didn't think I'd be much help. So...anybody have any influence in the Boston film scene reading this...do what you can to get 'thinking...' screened up there.
