Actually, I did a "double feature" yesterday...

Went to see thinking... at the 5th Annual Downtown Short Film Festival in the afternoon. It really is a sweet and funny film and by far the best one on what was the final day of the Festival.

I decided to stay in the city and go to TSF that night. I had probably my best seat so far... D10. Up front, but not too close and centered on the stage.

Anyway, there weren't too many changes that I noticed. The whole play seemed a bit louder to me... It was obvious that everyone was now comfortable in their roles.

In the first Starbuck's scene R/L is quite boisterous! I also remembered a line that Stacey had been asking about. While on the phone w/ Oliver R/L is having a mild temper tantrum about something and he says, "Just b/c a person has a tramp stamp doesn't mean they can't have a brain too. They can have both! Duh!" At which point he hangs up the phone.

His rendition of "New York, New York" was more energetic and more playful. Later on in the scene while he and Beth are wiping tables after everyone has left they actually do a few high kicks ala Radio City Rockettes!

The tattoo is black and does still remind me of a bar code... but I think to most people in the theater it just looks like a black rectangle. They have settled on a hairstyle for Laszlo that is reminiscent of the 50's pompadour.

The rape scene has been tweaked a bit again... the gate is back, but both O/L and R/Z use it. O/L stares through it while she is isolated in the cell. R/Z stands facing the audience through the gate as he delivers the sad news to O/L about her brother. It was quite effective on both counts...

The rape has been lengthened just a bit... and after it is over, R/Z seems more "spent," I guess is the right word. He takes more than a minute or two to compose himself.

I have a question for the others who have seen the play...
mlytjc2 and I had a discussion about R/Z during this scene when he seems to "compliment" O/L on how the Austrian people so quickly followed behind the Nazis... He says it while he is "comforting" her after the rape... straightening and buttoning her coat in a perverted, yet almost loving and protective way. He then gently holds her by both shoulders and kisses her on the forehead. Did he always do that? I can't seem to remember!

But it's truly amazing to see Randy add yet another dimension to Zeitzler. So much in just one scene! Remarkable! I think that's why the whole scene isn't as uncomfortable as I had once dreaded.

O/L seems to spend less time killing R/Z, but there did seem to be more blood.

R/L was exceptionally adorable in the last scene. When he confesses to Oliver that he had made up the whole story about Shar making him sit on the toilet and eat the $100 dollar bills before sex... He had said he didn't want Oliver to think he was the kind of person who would just break-up w/ someone for no good reason... So Oliver replies, "So you are?" R/L scrunches his face a bit and with the cutest smile shakes his head and says, "Yeah."

I got to speak w/ Randy for a few minutes after the play. There was one other Japanese girl waiting for him too. He personalized her program for her and then said to her, "I like your shirt." I couldn't see it from where she was standing.

I asked him to sign the card from the Film Festival... I told him I had been there earlier and he said, "Oh, how did it go over there?" I told him that it had been a full house (and it was miserable rainy day on Sunday, so that in itself was great) and that thinking...was very well received. Then he flashed one of his rare, but beautiful smiles! I wish he would do that more often!

He had washed his hair and it was falling in his face a bit... he had on a beige trench coat, white T-Shirt underneath, loose-fitting light blue denim jeans, and black/multi checked Vans. He carried a red and white polka dot umbrella. The Bose earphones made an appearance around his neck again... hadn't seen those in a while.

In my humble opinion, he was exceptionally gorgeous last night! Unfortunately, no pictures though. It's so hard to do when there is only one person and we were some of the very last people there... I think the workers were waiting for us to leave so that they could go home!
