It was opening night of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" tonight and judging from the crowd's reaction, I wasn't the only one who enjoyed the performance.

Randy Harrison was great as Billy Bibbitt and had playing a neurotic down to a "t". When the focus wasn't on him, he was totally in character, pulling at lint and string in his clothing and biting the neck of his shirt. I expected from the script that he would have to stutter a lot - but he handled the stuttering very subtly and not all the time so it wasn't distracting. Once again, I enjoyed watching Johnathan Epstein perform and also enjoyed the performance of Austin Durant as the Indian.

In one part, Randy really had to play his heart out crawling on the floor to Nurse Ratched's knees and begging her not to tell his mother about his going off with the "hooker". It was quite emotional. At the party, I stood with Linda Hamilton for a while and she is a lovely woman - very down to earth and treats you like a friend she's known for a while. Our own Stew Nantell who has been selling us our tickets for the past couple of years actually played the part of Ruckly who's only line is "Fuck 'em all" over and over. Great line - he said after that it is going to be his mantra from now on.

I am going to the Monday performance and it will be interesting to see what the actors have to say in the question and answer session after. I can't think of any question to ask yet, I hope I can come up with something profound over the weekend!
