”These characters talk about and deal with some tremendous issues and have arguments and share theoretical philosophies,” Harrison says. “We had a lot of rehearsal time and we had the time and the ability to spend time grappling with what they are saying and how their characters have been formed by the things they have discussed.”
The two actors share the stage for the entire production and both Harrison and Ari believe their chemistry is perfect for the roles.
”It’s one of those things where we have to deal with the other person every moment on stage, and the audience disappears,” Ari says. “It’s a great moment on the stage. Being able to concentrate on the other person for the whole extent of a play helps you do that.”
A high point of the production will see the two characters lay the base ground color for a painting about to be done and they work together on a seven-foot flat canvas and cover it with a very rich maroon color.
